Physical exercise is widely recognized as a key contributor to overall health, with growing evidence demonstrating its positive effects on cognitive function and mental performance. Regular physical activity enhances cerebral blood flow, promotes neurogenesis, and stimulates the release of neurotransmitters and neurotrophic factors that support learning, memory, attention, and executive functioning. Additionally, exercise reduces stress, anxiety, and depression, thereby improving emotional well-being and cognitive efficiency. This paper reviews current scientific literature on the relationship between physical exercise and cognitive performance across different age groups. It examines the physiological mechanisms underlying these benefits and highlights the impact of various forms of exercise, including aerobic, resistance, and flexibility training, on brain health. The findings indicate that consistent engagement in moderate-intensity physical activity can improve memory retention, concentration, processing speed, and problem-solving abilities while reducing the risk of age-related cognitive decline. The study concludes that incorporating regular exercise into daily routines is a practical and cost-effective strategy for enhancing mental performance, supporting lifelong cognitive health, and improving overall quality of life.
